I've got my eyelet on you.

Sooooo, I know I haven't been great at posting lately. Life has been kinda hectic. Remember that interview I had? Well, guess who got the position?! That's right. Me, moi, yours truly! Praise God! Now, I can actually have health insurance. Yaaaay! The only not so great part is that I now have to devote more time to actually work. I don't get to pick and choose which days I want to work anymore. I have a set schedule. So, it will be a little more tricky to keep up on posting. But, I'm totally up for the challenge!
I bought this dress three or four years ago. It's actually one of my favorite dresses. I love the fact that it's an eyelet dress in a babydoll silhouette. So girly. I usually wear wedges or sandals with it but, on this day I felt like throwing on my rough and tough boots and just going.

Orange delight.

In keeping with the challenge I placed upon myself to wear more color this year, here is another post with absolutely no black. Yay for me! But as you can see, it wasn't very hard to choose another color besides black. With the sun shining and the temperature warm enough to throw on a sundress, I took total advantage.

For this post, the hubbs and I decided to take pics right after church and brunch with the sun high in the sky. I was looking everywhere except the camera since it was so bright out and all I would do was squint. And being Filipino with naturally existing "tight" eyes, squinting was no bueno. But, I managed to work through it and the sun gave us an amazing orange glow to match my orange dress, not to mention giving me a slight tan. Yesss.

Kickin' it wedge style.

So, I finally decided not to wear a single piece of red or black clothing. Aren't you guys so happy about it? But let me tell you, it took about five minutes of talking myself out of wearing black today. Well, actually let me take that back. I did wear black today. I had an interview and decided I wanted to look totally corporate. But the rest of the day was spent in these lovely threads. I picked up my nephew from school and we totally kicked it. I love quality time with him. I've got a total of six nieces and nephews and spending time with any and all of them is one of my favorite things to do.
If you notice, I'm wearing one of my thrift store treasures, which I posted about here. It's one of the sequin crop tops which I wore backwards and unbuttoned as a vest. It made me feel just a tad bit more dressy since all I threw on today was a pair of jeans and a shirt. And I am lovin' these wedge booties that I bought for a mere $26!

Simplicity is the word of the day.

Today was a beautiful day in SoCal! Sunny and warm, just the way we Californians like it. I would have liked to spend the day at the beach, but ended up snoozing the whole afternoon! After our 3-hr long catnap, the hubbs and I hit the grocery store. It's been a little over a month since we bought groceries. How we ever survived that long without food in the fridge is a mystery to me!
I don't always wear shoes with high heels. I like heels. Very much. However, grocery store shopping today didn't feel like a glam enough occasion for me to wear my favorite platform pumps. So, I opted for a more modest outfit. I almost always gravitate towards outfits that are simple yet polished.

Thrift store treasures.

So, I've been really terrible at posting these last couple of weeks. I guess real life has overwhelmed my blogging life for the time being. Also, I've been feeling uninspired. Working in the medical field where everything is technical and scientific can really smother any creativity I may have. Sigh. So, in the meantime while I'm waiting for the artistic side of my personality to come out of hibernation, I have been hitting a couple of local thrift stores and I've also been shopping online. Unfortunately, those online goodies have not yet arrived. But, I wanted to share some of the thrift store treasures that I found with you all. I'm excited for these pieces and can't wait to get out of this funk to style them.

All of this for about $70! I'm super excited about the cropped sequin tops. And don't you just love the leather vest with the criss cross detail? Ohhhh mannn. I think artsy Ash is stirring! Stay tuned, people! :)

Casual in cashmere.

Hello all! I can't believe it's been an entire week since I've posted anything. Last week was super busy! I was completely exhausted from my long 12-hour shifts. But lucky for me, I was able to get away for the weekend with some friends and family to relax and unwind. We spent three glorious days in Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear snowboarding and enjoying the beautiful nature in these California mountains. I spent the whole weekend in comfortable warm winter clothes. And once I was back to reality, I wanted to hang on to my weekend for as long as I could and this sweater helped me do that. I nabbed this cashmere sweater in the men's section at a local thrift store for just $5! I love a great find!

Faux and Fabulous.

My very first post of 2011. Exciting!

So, if it isn't already obvious...the faux part of this post pertains to my pants and my sister Erin's moto jacket. I just love how the fake stuff now doesn't always scream cheap or look completely
street walker-ish and that there are so many brands that make really great "leather" pieces to wear nowadays. I can remember when I was younger and fake leather was called pleather. Hahaha. Do they still call it that? If they do, then I guess I'm wearing pleather! But I sure am proud of it!

The fabulous part of this post is that you all get to meet my fabulous baby sis, Erin! She is one of my favorite people on this planet! She's super smart and just an absolutely amazing and beautiful person inside and out. It was really fun doing this post with her and it probably won't be the last. In some ways our styles are quite similar and other times I have NO idea what she's thinking! (Just kidding, Er!) Actually, she probably thinks that about some of my outfits. Trust me, I've had some doozies in the past! And I'm almost 100% sure I'll have more in the future. Just wait for it.  ;)

On Erin- dress: random store in downtown LA, moto jacket: local store, tights: Target, ankle boots: F21, bracelets: Tiffany's, watch: Betsey Johnson, necklace: our Gmama's.
On me- silk blouse: thrifted from Goodwill, pants: F21, belt and fedora: Ross, shoes: Bakers. necklace and croc ring: F21.

Happy 2011! Let's make it a good one!
